From the west: Approach Hull on the M62. This becomes the A63 and you should follow signs for Hull. As you approach the centre, the speed limit becomes 40 mph. Turn off the A63 at the start of the 40 mph speed limit at a junction marked "Local Traffic, Infirmary". Go straight on at the first roundabout onto Rawlings way. At the first set of traffic lights turn left onto Anlaby Road. You will go over the railway line on a flyover. The first road on the right after this flyover is Walton Street, the site of Hull Fair.

From the south: Cross the Humber Bridge and follow signs for A63 Hull. Turn off the A63 at the start of the 40 mph speed limit and follow the above route.

From the east: Follow signs for A63 Leeds. As you are leaving Hull centre, there is a pub on your left called the Vauxhall Tavern before the road bends to the left over a flyover. Turn off the A63 before the flyover at a junction marked "Local Traffic, Infirmary", turn right on the roundabout onto Rawlings Way, left at the next traffic lights onto Anlaby Road. Half a mile further is Walton Street, on the right immediately after the flyover.

From the northwest: Approach Hull on the A1079. Near Beverley, this road becomes a dual carriageway. Take the first turn off after the start of the dual carriageway and turn left onto the A164, heading south. After several roundabouts, there are two petrol stations on either side of the road. Turn left at the next roundabout, following the sign for B1232 Willerby. Go straight on at the first roundabout. Approach the second roundabout in the left-hand lane and follow the sign for Hull (almost straight on) onto Kingston Road. At the next roundabout go straight on and continue on Kingston Road/Willerby Road. 2 miles further, at the next roundabout, take the second exit onto Spring Bank West. Walton Street is nearly a mile further on, on the left, immediately before a level crossing.

From the northeast: Enter Hull on the A1079, Beverley Road. Shortly after passing Trafalgar Street Church on the right you will reach Blundells Corner. Here there is a set of traffic lights and the Hull Daily Mail building on the right. Turn right at this junction onto Spring Bank, following the signs for Willerby. Continue straight on for 1 mile onto Spring Bank West. Walton Street is on the left after the level crossing.

By Rail: Come out of Hull's Paragon Station turning right onto Ferensway. Take the first right turn onto Anlaby Road. Either catch a bus here or walk 1 mile along Anlaby Road to the flyover over the railway line. Immediately after the flyover there is a bus stop and Walton Street is on the right.

These directions all take you to the Hull Fair site. If you are coming by car, as you get close (you can tell this by the number of pedestrians carrying balloons and candy floss), you should consider looking for a parking space. There is always free legal parking within 10 minutes walk of the Fair, car park spaces for a fee (some in West Park, some off Rawlings Way) and illegal parking within 5 minutes walk of the Fair. As traffic wardens are always out in force, the last option will not save you money. If a 10 minute walk suits you, look for legal parking around Hessle Road, Hawthorne Avenue, Spring Bank and Princes Avenue. If you try to get closer, you may well get into a traffic jam and find nothing other than chargeable parking. An option worth considering is the Humber Bridge park and ride service which will operate from the car park near the A63/A164 junction. Wherever you park, be sure to lock your car and place anything of potential value out of sight. As in any large city, coats and bags are at risk if they are in view.

Update: I've just walked back from Hull Fair 2004 (7pm on the first Saturday) and traffic was crawling along Anlaby Road slower than walking pace to get into the West Park car park (£4 this year) while there were free legal parking spaces on many of the streets around. There were numerous parking spaces on the streets enclosed by Hessle Road, Rawlings Way, Hawthorne Avenue and Anlaby Road, even a handful of places on King's Bench Street. The link below will help you to find these streets if you are unfamiliar with the area.
